The Collaborative Research Center “Consistency in the View-Based Development of Cyber-Physical Systems” focuses its attention on modern cyber-physical systems such as cars, planes, or large-scale production facilities. These systems comprise of many electronical and mechanical components that are controlled by software. For such systems to function properly, all components need to work together flawlessly. In recent years, this task has been made increasingly difficult by the growing complexity of modern CPS. In response, researchers at the CRC are developing software solutions designed to ensure fast and efficient development cycles and update intervals for CPS.

The Kick-Off

Following the meticulous preparation of the project leaders that led to a successful evaluation by the German Research Foundation, the CRC began its work on 1 October 2023. To get the CRC off to a good start, the CRC’s management invited all members to a two-day kick-off event at Haus der Kirche, Bad Herrenalb. More than 50 researchers of the participating universities Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Technical University Dresden (TUD), University of Mannheim (UMA), and Technical University Munich (TUM) responded to the call.

In the midst of the beautiful scenery of the northern Black Forest, the participants had a lot to work on. The program included discussions about organizational and structural matters, about the current state of the research and future goals and milestones as well as opportunities for scientific and personal networking.

After two productive and exciting days, the CRC members traveled back to their respective home institutions, prepared to take the next steps necessary to put the CRC’s ambitious research agenda into practice.
