Onboarding Seminar 2024
Once a year, the Collaborative Research Center organizes a two-day, on-site seminar aimed at providing new members with all information they need to become successful, well-integrated researchers. The event focuses on three main pillars. Firstly, researchers learn more about the scientific vision of Convide and the overarching research questions that they will be working on answering over the course of the next couple of years. Secondly, they are introduced to the organization of the CRC, i.e., structures, processes, and workflows. Thirdly, dedicated networking measures help new researchers to connect with their colleagues, allowing them seek cooperation early on.
Prof. Dr. Ralf Reussner, spokesperson of the CRC and Dr. Philipp Scherzer, managing director, led the researchers through the program. Prof. Reussner focused his presentations on important questions related to vision and research, helping attendees to understand the timeliness and significance of a large-scale project dedicated to researching new methods for developing cyber-physical systems. Philipp Scherzer took time to explain basic organizational structures of the CRC, including an overview of its governing bodies, established workflows, and resources available to all Convide researchers.
The half-day workshop dedicated to interdisciplinary cooperation at the CRC was one of the highlights of this year's Onboarding Seminar. Dr. Stefan Götze, expert for interdisciplinary learning, helped attendees to comprehend the challenges and opportunities associated with interdisciplinary cooperation in research. In practical exercises, they got a glimpse into the complexities of different disciplines joining forces and explored means of overcoming potential obstacles.
